Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Lina Annab, sponsored the peace candle lighting ceremony that was held on Friday evening at the Church of Baptism at the site of the Baptism, on the bank of the Jordan River. The name of the ceremony was : “Jordan, the Land of Peace” and it was organised by the Ministry, in cooperation with the Baptism Site authorities, the Catholic Center for Studies and Media with the participation of the Fountain of love choir,The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities concluded her speech by thanking everyone who contributed to the success of the celebration, especially the Fountain of Love choir celebrates its fifteenth anniversary this yearThe Minister lit candles of peace with Bishop Joseph Jbara, representing the church leaders, Sheikh Dr. Hassan Abu Arqoub, from the Ifta Department, the Italian, Hungarian and Lebanese ambassadors, and Feryal Eid representing Caritas Jordan. The ceremony included some spiritual songs performed by the Fountain of Love Choir conducted by the choir director Tohme Jabara. Among the songs was “Now is the time for peace” which was produced in cooperation with the Jordanian Caritas organisation. The ceremony also included a documentary courtesy of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media,about the visits of popes and political and religious figures to this site.
